The Year That Changed Our Roadmap
When we launched Teambridg on January 6, 2020, our roadmap was carefully planned: steady feature development, gradual market expansion, systematic customer acquisition. By March, that roadmap was in the trash.
COVID-19 didn't just change our customers' world — it changed ours. Demand surged. Use cases we'd planned for 2021 (large-scale remote work monitoring, burnout detection, work-life balance tracking) suddenly became urgent requirements. We rebuilt our roadmap in real-time, shipping features at a pace we didn't think we were capable of.
The Features That Defined 2020
Looking back at our feature timeline, the pivot point is obvious:
Pre-COVID (Jan-Feb): Foundation features — onboarding, dashboards, Smart Alerts, Linux beta, core analytics.
COVID pivot (Mar-May): Project integrations and API, Work-Life Balance dashboard, burnout indicators, Team Pulse surveys, free COVID trials.
Maturation (Jun-Sep): Async reports, manager coaching, mobile app, advanced analytics, privacy controls, Slack integration, Wellness Score, benchmarks.
Reflection (Oct-Dec): Year-in-review analytics, executive reporting, enhanced data export, enterprise features.
The feature that I'm most proud of is our Burnout Risk Indicators. We shipped them in April as COVID burnout was just beginning, and they've since flagged thousands of early warning signals that prompted supportive manager conversations. Monitoring that actively protects employees is what we set out to build, and this feature embodies it.
What Our Data Taught Us
Running a workforce analytics platform means we learn from the aggregate patterns across our entire customer base. Here are the most important things 2020 taught us:
- Focus time is the single most important productivity metric. This was our hypothesis at launch. Ten months of data have confirmed it overwhelmingly.
- Productivity and wellbeing must be tracked together. Output metrics without wellness context are dangerously misleading.
- Teams with explicit norms outperform. The data is unambiguous — documented norms are the highest-leverage intervention for remote team effectiveness.
- Transparent monitoring works. 94% adoption, positive employee sentiment, measurable productivity improvements. The ROI case is clear.
Thank You, and Here's to 2021
To our customers, our team, and the broader community that's engaged with our content throughout this extraordinary year: thank you. Building Teambridg during 2020 has been the most meaningful work of our careers.
In 2021, we're building for the hybrid work era — with deeper analytics, stronger privacy controls, enterprise-scale features, and continued commitment to the principle that monitoring should serve employees as much as it serves employers.
If you're not yet using Teambridg, there's never been a better time to start. Your team's 2021 work patterns will look very different from 2020, and having data from the start will help you make better decisions all year long.
Teambridg is free for teams up to 3 users. No credit card required.
